(In September of 2021, I was diagnosed with stage 3 throat cancer. I immediately made the decision to address how I would treat and heal my body, from my holistic, homeopathic, and spiritual foundation of life. I am adding this information to this website on January 30, 2022. I will add information accordingly going forward. This is my story.)

(Excerpt from ‘That Oneness Guy’ blog, entry “When you hear, ‘You Have Cancer’ (like I just did) October 24, 2021)

Hello, my friends,

I struggled for a while deciding if this kind of information was something that I wanted to go 'public' with at all. I mean, when you're told that you have cancer, you think about things like that. You don't want to feel like you're looking for pity and sympathy, and you sure as hell don't want to keep that stuff locked up inside where it does nothing but fester and add to the illness. So, before I get into my story, I want to tell you 'why' I'm going public.

First, because I truly know of the 'Power of Prayer'. I know that people in general, especially family and friends, upon hearing my news will offer their love and support through prayer. We know that we are spiritual beings comprised of energy, and those loving thoughts and prayers will definitely reach me. I want that energy! I'm receptive towards it, and I embrace it all because in this new journey I need and accept anything that will help me keep my energy and vibrations as high as possible.

Next, because there is always the chance that my story might reach someone who is embarking on a difficult time as well, and I might be able to help that person in their time of need. And honestly, I can think of no better way to be in service than to help someone (as I am being helped). So, with that said, if you or someone you know is going through or embarking upon their own journey through cancer, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Here's what happened...

About a month ago, I was diagnosed with throat cancer. As one would expect, upon hearing those words, I went numb. The spirituality that I have grown and nurtured for about forty years left me instantly and I found myself under an avalanche of fear. I'm only 60 years old, I'm in really good shape, I have so much more that I want to accomplish in life, but most importantly, I cannot fathom leaving the woman I love.

When the initial life bomb subsided to a degree, and with the love and support from my wife, my father, and siblings, I decided to visit another specialist for a much-needed second opinion. This doctor was far more efficient and professional than my prior two doctors and explained my diagnosis in a much clearer and more proficient manner. He was fairly optimistic that I could get beyond this ordeal in about one year's time. But and this is a really big 'but', he said that I would need radiation, chemotherapy, and most likely a feeding tube.

I totally glazed over upon hearing that prognosis. My wife said that my expression was almost comical! I mean, a feeding tube? WTF! Obviously, that would be needed because after the radiation blasts away half of my throat, I probably won't be able to nourish myself in the way of eating or drinking. My friends, I need my throat to be able to speak. I teach a student during the day, I sing as a performer, I record podcasts, and I speak publicly. I NEED MY VOICE! Andrea and I left that consultation knowing that prognosis was not going to be our route of choice.

You may not know this, but aside from my spiritual practice of Oneness, Andrea and I have been under the care of a homeopathic practitioner and chiropractor for about twenty years. Through this time, we have remained healthy, holistically and physically aligned, and vibrant. We have adopted the Chiropractic creed that says:

"The Powers that Made the Body, Heal the Body. It happens no other way"

When I combine this mantra along with what many spiritual masters and messengers have shared regarding the inherent powers of our magnificent bodies, I started to regain my faith. I know that no matter what we might face, our bodies have the capacity to restore the optimal health that we emanated from and is our birthright. The very fact that a scraped knee begins to form a scab within a few days is proof. Proof that our bodies are manufactured to heal themselves. The problem is that we've grown away from that truth. We no longer trust in our very nature, the same nature that allows trees to sprout buds after a long-dormant winter.

Many have lost touch with Oneness, but I have not.

So, back to my story. I made an immediate appointment with my practitioner, and after a two-and-a-half-hour visit including Bionetics testing to identify imbalances in the body, and a holistic approach to restore and balance the body through homeopathy, I knew I had a plan that most importantly resonated with my higher self. I opted, at least initially, to go within. To allow the spiritual essence that I've nurtured for 40 years to be the guiding light on my return to wellness. I decided to combine what serves my highest purpose along with my intuitive guidance, a holistic and homeopathic regiment, and a strict change in my diet. What I found out right away, was that the physical side of my new journey will be much easier to navigate than the emotional and mental obstacles I now face.

"Where the mind goes, the body follows"

I'm sure if you ask any Cancer survivor, or someone currently living through Cancer, they'll confirm that trying to control your thoughts is the most difficult of tasks. I myself, agree. As a messenger of Oneness, I know of the importance of our thoughts. I know that 'what we think about expands'. I know that our thoughts lead to our feelings and that our feelings determine what manifests in our lives. I KNOW THIS! But with that said, I still fall prey to the fear that unfortunately comes associated with any Cancer. I mean, how can you not? Our society has developed an unhealthy and scary mindset to associate Cancer with, which is naturally very tough to get beyond. But as Cancer patients, we must! We can follow the directions of any prognosis to perfection, but if the mind is not healthy, it will not work. We cannot have our minds flooded with fearful thoughts and expect our bodies to heal.

I assembled one hell of a team!

With full knowledge that there is strength in numbers, I put together 'Team Danny'. This team is headed up by none other than my wife, Andrea. She is most definitely the Captain as it is a role no one else could take on. She is my shoulder to cry on, my confidant, my love, my encouragement, and most of all my strength. The measures she has taken already are mind-boggling! Between constant research on the internet, YouTube videos, shopping at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, phone calls on my behalf, EVERYTHING! I'm also blessed to have Reiki and Chios Masters, a Radical Remission Certified Instructor. I am also seeking guidance regarding acupuncture, psychotherapy, and I have just started EFT tapping sessions. All of this is coupled with an incredibly loving and supporting family and an absolute abundance of loving friends and colleagues.

So, why did this happen to me?

There are some folks who believe that an illness like cancer, or any illness, is just a matter of bad luck. To that, I would say, first of all, there is no such thing as 'luck', be it good or bad. We experience results based upon our connection to source or not. And with that said, when I consider why I have cancer, I know that it stems directly from a lack of connection to my source, my higher self. My God. So, now you might be wondering, 'How could a man who preaches Oneness, not be connected to his higher source?' Great question. To answer I would say by allowing negative energies I have dealt with my entire life to persist. And in my case, unfortunately, it is FEAR.

I have dealt with fear, in one form or another my entire life. I won't go into what specific fears I've been dealing with. Just know that they're not out of the ordinary per se. Many people have the same fears and deal with them in their own way. I've always thought that I had them under control to an extent, but as I grew within my spirituality, I realized that I had not. And for those who do not know, fear as with any negative emotion, if harbored long enough makes our bodies break down, both spiritually on an energetic level and physically on a cellular level. This is what happened to me. The negative energies block positive energies from entering my being, which over time weakened healthy cells that allowed my cancer to manifest. By no means was this just happenstance. I allowed it, as do we all. Our bodies break down in the many forms that they can when we are not aligned with source.

If I brought it on through lack of alignment, I can reverse it with alignment.

As I now move forward, I will carry many mantras with me: 'Food is Medicine', 'Embrace the Cancer', 'Fear cannot live where Love resides', 'I Am Well', 'My cells will Replenish and Repair' to name a few. But I know full well, that unless I am producing thoughts of health, love, positivity, and strength, treatments of any kind won't work. That's how important our thoughts truly are. This is why another mantra is 'Where the mind goes, the body follows' as I mentioned earlier. I know that I have the capacity to do this. But I need to find exactly how I can RELEASE MY SUPPRESSED EMOTIONS! This is key to my recovery. In doing this I will allow the positive energies to reenter my being, and speed up my recovery.

The current date is December 14, 2021. I'm saying this because I want you to know that I am four months into my journey. With that said, I can only attest to what I've experienced personally in this relatively short amount of time. For the purposes that John has set in place, I want to contribute the measures I've taken to help me on my journey. If you're a newly diagnosed cancer patient, you'll come to learn that surviving cancer is in fact a journey. A journey of self-discovery and unending education. Whether you've selected to take a 'traditional' or 'alternative' route to your recovery, you'll immediately find this out. The learning curve is immense and intense!

But isn't this what you want? Don't you want to learn as much as you can about YOUR BODY, and YOUR JOURNEY?

I know that I do, especially after the initial shock wore off. Now, because this document as a whole, represents an 'alternative' approach, and because I am following along that route myself, please know that what I add will be highlighting some of the many holistic approaches towards facing, dealing with, living with, and reversing cancer. Along with the 'physical' measures I've been taking so far; I will also be including the 'spiritual' side of this equation as well. I am a spiritual author with two books currently available:

"I Am God" (and so are you my friend) A Common Man's Guide to Oneness

"The WAYZ of Oneness" Helping to Navigate Life

I also have a podcast called 'That Oneness Guy', and three CDs that feature my songs of Oneness. I make this point because I have grown and nurtured my spirituality for more than 40 years, so when I face ANYTHING in life, I address it first and foremost as the spiritual being that I am. This may not resonate with you, and that's fine. I just need to share my journey from my perspective, and spirituality plays a really big part in it. Plus, what you read from me just might inspire you to ask yourself questions about your own spirituality, and that would be a beautiful thing!

CLOSING (I wrote this closing on 1/5/22):

I feel it is safe to say that if you’re reading this, you either have, or know someone with cancer. It is my hope that the information I have shared will inspire you. With the help of my older brother Frankie, my 'Radical Remission Certified Instructor, John Henry was literally the first ‘non-family member’ to reach out to me. I can honestly say that without his compassion and guidance, I don’t know where I would be within my journey. John inspired me so much that I was ready to run through a brick wall! He got me excited. Think about that statement for a second.

I was excited that I had cancer!

Because I now had come to know that I (me) had the tools in which to take a proactive stance to literally save my own life! I knew that my entire life had led me to this point. I knew that I was going to dictate how I progressed (not the doctors). And I knew that along with John, I had assembled a team of family and friends that offered me nothing but love and support.

You don’t have to fear the word (cancer). First of all, it’s not a noun. If anything, it’s an adjective. A description of what your body is currently doing to protect itself. You need to trust in your inherent nature. Your body’s innate ability to heal itself. When you learn the foundational elements of our bodies, especially that they are ‘Alkaline by design, and acidic by function’ (thank you Dr. Robert Young) you come to know the importance of eliminating waste. And this is just one of the many biological truths you will come to know.

As I’m concluding this section, it is Wednesday, January 5, 2022. I am only entering the 5th month of my journey. I am now at a point where I want to get another scan, be it CAT or PET scan, to gauge my progress. I feel absolutely great. I have lost about 17 pounds (which is just from eating ‘clean’). I can physically see and feel how the lumps in my neck have virtually disappeared. I have been able to maintain my position as a Paraprofessional where I help to teach a blind student. I have performed as a vocalist on numerous occasions, and I have maintained my ‘That Oneness Guy Podcast’.

All things I would not have been physically able to do if I began radiation and chemotherapy treatments back in September.

But as I’m sure you know. ‘Life is a series of choices that we make’. The information within this document was put in place for those who are considering an alternative, and holistic approach when facing ANY chronic illness.

John Henry made that choice. As have I.

Radical Remission and Radical Hope by Dr. Kelly A. Turner

(I have read both of these books and they have proved to be invaluable, to say the least)

The stories you'll read in both of these books are mind-blowing. Individuals who have gone to 'Hell and back' as they say. Each account tells a different story. A different diagnosis and prognosis which all lead to traditional treatments (radiation, chemotherapy, surgery). Years of pain and suffering that in many cases leads to hearing that they are 'cancer free', only to have the cancer pop up somewhere again down the road. These stories are truly heartbreaking. But what happens next is why these books are mind-blowing. All of these individuals, through different means, discover alternative measures and treatments. These 'Radical' methods work harmoniously with our bodies. And lo and behold, our cells and bodies replenish and repair themselves and return to alignment and optimum health. As I've stated in my story, I subscribe to the Chiropractic Creed that states: 'The Powers That Made The Body, Heal The Body. It Happens No Other Way'. We are all blessed with free will in this lifetime. We can choose which form of treatment to take or not. Never feel like you don't have an option.

Reverse Cancer Now by Dr. Robert Young

'The Body is Alkaline by Design, and Acidic by Function'

This book is simply amazing! You will come to know exactly what cancer is and is not. Specifically, that cancer is not a noun. It is an adjective. In other words, you don't have cancer, you have cancerous cells. You'll also come to learn exactly how and why people develop cancerous cells (because of too much acidity) along with the importance of alkalinity in our bodies.

Visit Robert Young's other site that is filled with foods, products, supplements and so much more.

The Essiac Report

(transcribed from the back of the book)

The Essiac report presents for the first time the complete facts surrounding Essiac, an incredibly effective Canadian Herbal Cancer Remedy which has for more than 50 years successfully treated thousands of people suffering from various forms of terminal cancer. Few treatments if any can offer such enormous hope to cancer sufferers. Yet, almost nobody in the United States knows about Essiac!

In discussing the treatments that I am currently taking part in, aside from diet, meditation, and Bodyscan, they are not in any particular order. I realized very early in my journey that diet, meditation, and the continued practice I've followed for twenty years, the 'Bodyscan' would be the most important treatments (for me) and are on the top of my list. This may not be the case for you, again I am sharing the process for my personal journey.

  • Diet

"Let Food Be Thy Medicine. Let Medicine Be Thy Food"

                                                                                              - Hippocrates

With thanks to John and the entire Radical Remission process, I immediately became aware of the importance of my diet. I mean, how could it not? I'm dealing with a physical malady. It's my body. Is there any one single aspect of life that could affect my body more than my diet? I don't think so. As with most of us on the planet, I was unaware, or just refused to accept the truth of that statement. But a funny thing happens to someone after hearing a diagnosis of cancer. YOUR THOUGHTS CHANGE!

We begin to think differently

When we realize that every morsel of food that we ingest either hurts us or helps us, we begin to think differently. When we learn what specific foods starve cancer, and what foods fuel cancer, we begin to think differently. When we come to know that our bodies are alkaline in nature, we begin to think differently.

As with everything in life, we have a choice. We can choose what to eat and drink, and what not to. After we educate ourselves from the abundance of resources pertaining to cancer, our bodies and our diet naturally become more important to us, or at least they should. What I found out as soon as I realized the importance, is that by addressing your diet you IMMEDIATELY take control of your situation. Because I chose to take a non-traditional route regarding my treatments, I knew that my new life journey had to begin first and foremost, with my diet. To echo John's words; 'As opposed to waiting for invasive procedures to take effect, I can do this, right now!' By the simple act of not placing harmful foods (and by harmful, I mean, foods that fuel cancer) into my mouth, I have taken an immediate, and quite large step in the healing process. Because as we've learned, cancer needs sugars to metastasize. No sugar. No spread.

The next logical question is: "What foods have sugar in them?"

I'd rather you learn and understand the scientific answer to this question from the many qualified resources within this document. For my purposes here, I'll just say 'almost everything'. Most foods either have sugar in them or break down into sugar. This will be a big part of your learning curve as it was mine. If you're dealing with cancer to any degree, eliminating sugar is up at the top of your list of things to avoid. And for me personally, because I love pasta, bread, sweets, and alcohol, it wasn't easy initially, but when considering what's at stake (my life), it became really easy. And thanks to my wife, who has been relentless with her research, she has found recipes that are simply amazing!

 Whole Foods / Trader Joe's / Wegmans

My wife Andrea has found that having these 3 stores in our town is a blessing. They all provide an above-average array of organic foods, fruits, and vegetables. This isn't the 'be all, end all' list, as I'm sure that there are many other food stores and chains that offer quality and healthy food, this is just what works for me.

  • Meditation

To engage in mental exercise (such as concentration on one's breathing or repetition of a mantra) for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness.

There are many definitions of meditation. I believe what I listed above is the most basic of all. It's safe to say that we all know what meditation is. It is also safe to say that most individuals cannot speak of the benefits one can attain from meditating. I have been meditating (in some form) for most of my adult life. During my meditations, I can typically reach the point I set out to reach. It's hard to describe it, but when I reach it I like to say that I'm 'in the zone'. I have no association with the physical, I'm just awareness. The importance of meditation for everyone, especially for those facing a serious illness is paramount. When we realize that we are spiritual beings having this human experience, we naturally seek the benefits of meditation. On an average day, we can have up to 80,000 thoughts. Our mind operates even when we are sleeping. If we don't MAKE the time to quiet our minds, we will eventually run into problems. Meditation not only quiets the mind, but it also reconnects us to our source (God, spirit, soul, or whatever you might call it).

  • BodyScan

BodyScan testing derives its origin from acupuncture and homeopathy, utilizing advanced biofeedback technology and the principles of Chinese and vibrational medicine. The science behind this technology is called Bionetics.

Benefits of Bionetic Testing:

  • Offers clients a method for identifying imbalances that may have been stored in the body for years.

  • Identifies stress responses to foods, grasses, molds, trees, bacteria, viruses, animals, pollutants, and other environmental factors.

  • Provides an energetic inventory of different organs and tissues.

  • Identifies imbalances in your body’s meridian system before they manifest as dis-ease (a state of acute or chronic imbalance)

  • Stimulates the body to heal itself.

  • Provides you with unique homeopathic remedies specific to your needs. The remedies do not contain harmful chemicals. The remedies contain the energetic signatures of substances needed to balance your body.

  • Teaches you how to modify your lifestyle to obtain maximum health and wellness.

You’ll note in ‘My Story’ above that I reference the Homeopathic Practitioner my wife and I have been under the care of for 20 years. His practice is ‘The BodyScan Center of New Jersey’.  I cannot speak highly enough of the service and the level of trust that we have for this practice and the benefits we’ve received over these past two decades. Simply put, I am 60 and my wife is 65, and we haven’t taken, or been on any meds during this time.

FOLLOW UP VISIT: Thursday March 24, 2022

My practitioner has another in Florida where he lives six months out of the year. While there he only sees patients one day a week on Thursdays. So, with the help of a very dear friend who bought my roundtrip ticket for me, I was able to schedule this appointment. After running through the scanning process along with numerous strength tests, the scan dictated that my spleen was still the biggest culprit in my journey to recovering fully. My biological age was 100 (yikes!) and I was unfortunately back on the 'sick-side' of a chart that gauges wellness. The homeopathic remedies that were selected by the scan to get me back to wellness were: TAF, SCAT-P, Cell Shield, Selenium, Spleen PMG. And from the most generous offers I've ever received, my practitioner is lending to me his 'Pulsar II' device and discs that feature 'Rife' technology (Rife machines produce low electromagnetic energy waves. These waves are similar to radio waves. Supporters of the treatment claim that the Rife machine can treat different conditions including cancer)

  • Reiki

A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

I've been the recipient of weekly Reiki sessions throughout my journey. I'm blessed to know a few Reiki Masters personally, and they have been kind enough to offer their services to me. During these sessions, I focus on clearing my energetic pathways to allow and enhance all higher vibrations to enter my being.

  • Chios Energy Healing

A relatively new but perhaps the most comprehensive and powerful aura and chakra-based energy healing art in the world today. Chios, which specifically and powerfully heal the true, root energetic defects in the aura and chakras. The Chios techniques are collectively perhaps the single greatest fundamental breakthrough in energy healing since the introduction of Reiki by Mikao Usui approximately 100 years ago (in the early 20th century). The body of knowledge and techniques comprising Chios has not previously been available in any spiritual or energy healing system.

I had the privilege of having a guest on my podcast who has her own Chios Energy Healing practice. She performed a 'distant healing' on me early in my journey. The experience is something I will never forget! The sensations that took over my body were very intense, yet comforting, as I felt her energy throughout my body initially, then focusing specifically on the location of the cancer. My mind was blown! You can read my story as a testimonial on her website. Please feel free to visit

  • EFT Tapping

Emotional freedom technique (EFT) is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress. It’s also referred to as tapping or psychological acupressure.

People who use this technique believe tapping the body can create a balance in your energy system and treat pain. According to its developer, Gary Craig, a disruption in energy is the cause of all negative emotions and pain.

Upon researching the many benefits of EFT Tapping, along with exactly how to perform the treatment I added it to my repertoire. It's a simple procedure and can be done anywhere. The objective is to activate specific energy meridians. You can find a lot of videos online that can guide you through the process.

  • Acupuncture

Acupuncture improves the body’s functions and promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific anatomic sites--commonly referred to as acupuncture points, or acupoints. The most common method used to stimulate acupoints is the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin. Pressure, heat, or electrical stimulation may further enhance the effects. Other acupoint stimulation techniques include manual massage, moxibustion or heat therapy, cupping, and the application of topical herbal medicines and linaments.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on an ancient philosophy that describes the universe, and the body, in terms of two opposing forces: yin and yang. When these forces are in balance, the body is healthy. Energy, called "qi" (pronounced "chee") flows along specific pathways, called meridians, throughout the body. This constant flow of energy keeps the yin and yang forces balanced. However, if the flow of energy gets blocked, like water getting stuck behind a dam, the disruption can lead to pain, lack of function, or illness. Acupuncture therapy can release blocked qi in the body and stimulate function, evoking the body’s natural healing response through various physiological systems. Modern research has demonstrated acupuncture’s effects on the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. By stimulating the body’s various systems, acupuncture can help to resolve pain and improve sleep, digestive function, and sense of well-being.

I recently added Acupuncture to my treatments. I found a great practitioner right in my hometown, and best of all is that it is covered by my insurance!  Those who know me, know that I talk a lot about 'energy' and how it needs to flow to and through us unimpeded. Our energy meridians must be unimpeded! This is why I'm utilizing Acupuncture in my recovery. It's all about the Qi.

  • Cupping

Cupping uses a cup to pull an area of skin into a suction that decompresses muscles and connective tissue. This promotes blood flow to the compromised area, enhances circulation and helps to increase the body's own healing processes — almost like a backward deep tissue massage

The Acupuncturist I've been seeing always ends my treatment with a Cupping session. As with all of my treatments, while this is taking place I meditate and envision my body receiving all of the potential benefits from the treatment.

  • Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a way to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so a person can function better and can increase well-being and healing.

One of the '10 Healing Factors' from the Radical Remission Project is "Release Suppressed Emotions". This was the only factor that I truly didn't have a handle on. I've stated in my story that as a spiritual being, I recognize the importance of energy. Energy has the ability to enter our being both positively and negatively. In my books and conversations about Oneness, I go into detail about the effects of both. As it pertains to me and my story, I believe that fears I may have harbored, and or continue to harbor, have had a negative impact on my life. I believe that my fears created a blockage. A blockage of positive energy, because fear does not resonate with my higher self, my spirit. I also believe that this blockage played a specific role by allowing the cancerous cells in my body to manifest. Just this past Saturday (12/18/21), I had my first session with a therapist. It is my hope that continued therapy sessions will help me release the suppressed emotion of fear out of my life for good. I'll keep you posted!

  • Fasting

Abstinence from food or drink or both for health, ritualistic, religious, or ethical purposes. The abstention may be complete or partial, lengthy, of short duration, or intermittent. Fasting has been used therapeutically since at least the 5th century BCE when Greek physician Hippocrates recommended abstinence from food or drink for patients who exhibited certain symptoms of illness. Some physicians recognized a fasting instinct, whereby patients in certain disease states naturally experience a loss of appetite. Some physicians believed that administering food during such states was unnecessary and possibly even detrimental since fasting was thought to be an important natural part of the recovery process.

In my initial research, I found out some really cool information about 'Fasting'. Especially as it pertains to healing. Pet owners may be able to relate to this. When animals get sick, they don't eat. They instinctively refrain from eating to allow themselves to heal. What a concept! That's why Fasting plays an important part in the recovery process. Because the body doesn't have to apply energy to digestive functions, it can focus on healing instead. What I've been doing during my journey is this. Once a week, I'll do an 'intermittent' fast. I won't eat anything after 8 pm, and then I won't eat again until lunch the next day. That works out to be about a 16 hour fast. I would advise this one first because it's not that hard to do. Typically, I'm not hungry during breakfast hours anyway, so I only have to make it to lunch. And as you probably know, I will drink water and tea until it's time to eat again. The more difficult one that I've been doing once a month is this. Again, I won't eat after 8 pm, then I won't eat again until breakfast two days later. For me, that works out to around a 34 hour fast. This is obviously a lot harder than an intermittent fast. But if you decide to try it, here are some tips. Lots of water and tea, keep yourself busy especially during dinner time the next day, and go to bed even earlier than you do.

My first official visit to the Magaziner Center for Wellness: Monday, February 7, 2022

I was so impressed with my first appointment at the Magaziner Center for Wellness! It started with a consultation with Dr. Magaziner that last almost an hour. We reviewed my case, I was happy to see that he agreed with everything I’ve been doing to date. He took my vitals. He examined my throat, and we discussed the options that he believed will work best for my continued road to recovery.

My next stop was to sit with his assistant who described in detail what each prescribed treatment was about and how it could help me. She also helped me to put dates together that will work with my schedule and reviewed all of the costs involved. From there I was directed to another room for my bloodwork. I didn’t look, so I don’t exactly how many vials were taken, but it was a lot.

Next up was my first IV. I received 25g of CA NIH (vitamin C) which took approximately 50 minutes. During that session, I was taken to another room to lie on the ‘BioMat’. A combination of infrared rays, negative ions, and the conductive properties of amethyst channels. This was very warm and comforting! Next, it was back to the IV room where upon completion of the CA NIH dose, they needed to take another blood sample to see how my body reacted to the 25g dosage. They informed me that ideally they would like me to get up to between 50g-75g.

Then it was time for an IV of ‘Mistletoe’ (Abietis). I was totally stoked to be receiving this because in my research, there were so many cases of individuals seeking to recover from cancer who had to fly to Germany to get this! And I’m getting it mainlined! That session was about 15 minutes, and during that time, they also started me on ‘PEMF” Therapy (Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field), which was a hand-held, rubber-like tubing that Dr. Magaziner wanted me to place around my throat as I dictated the amount of pulsation given. I totally was on board with this, as it was directly focused on my throat.

I was sent home with a specific urine test kit that I have to mail directly to a lab. I was also given two specific homeopathic remedies: H2 Absorb (Optimized Molecular Hydrogen tablets) and Argentyn 23 (Professional Bio-Active Silver Hydrosol)

I have nothing but high praise for Dr. Magaziner, his service and his staff. I’m going back in three weeks, and I’ll have more to report.

My second visit to the Magaziner Center for Wellness: Monday, February 28, 2022

This next visit was just as engaging, inspiring, and informing as my first visit. I started with an hour-long Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy session (HBOT). This therapy is used to greatly increase oxygen uptake into the circulatory, nervous, and musculoskeletal systems as well as all body tissues. This influx of oxygen is helpful to a cancer patient as cancer cannot survive where there are increased levels of oxygen. It was kind of like a giant inflatable sleeping bag, that I must say was very comfortable as it was cushioned. When the chamber inflates and deflates, it's very similar to taking off and landing when you're on a plane. You feel the pressure and it helps to swallow often. Aside from that, it was an enjoyable experience as I was able to read a book to help pass the time.

That treatment was followed by three specific infusions:  MAH 100 where they infuse some of my blood with additional oxygen and send it back into my body. Similar to the Hyperbaric Oxygen treatment, this 'extra' oxygen in my blood helps to ward off cancer. My next infusion was: CA NIH (50 grams). I welcomed this 50g dose of Vitamin C, which was 25g more than my first visit. And my third infusion was: Mistletoe Male - Viscum Abietis 50 mg. Having another round of this highly sought-after healing agent is amazing.

I'll be heading back to the Magaziner Wellness Center on April 4. Coming up next, I travel to Fort Myers, Florida for an appointment with my BodyScan practitioner on March 24.

My third visit to the Magaziner Center for Wellness: Monday, April 4, 2022

Before I get to the details of my third visit to the Magaziner Center, prior to that I had my first PET-CT scan done on March 21, and I had the results read to me on the morning of April 4. Andrea and I went to see ENT Specialist Dr. Sean Houston from Coastal Ear Nose and Throat. Dr. Houston originally saw me back in October and it was his diagnosis that my Tonsil cancer was brought on by the HPV (Human Pappiloma Virus). It was also Dr. Houston who told Andrea and myself that I would need aggressive chemo, radiation and potentially a feeding tube. So, Andrea and I were very anxious to hear the results of the PET scan from him. Unfortunately, they were not good. Dr. Houston told us that the cancer did in fact spread and was now also in my bones, and this now placed me in a Stage 4 category. Andrea and I were very upset to say the least, but I still had an appointment to make at the Magaziner Center. Dr. Magaziner's staff were all very concerned with the news that I shared, as I started the following treatments:

A one-hour Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy session was followed by an IV infusion of CA NIH (75g), then a Viscum Abietis (50g). Next, I had a consultation with Dr. Magaziner. He was obviously concerned about the reading of the PET scan and reviewed the results from my blood work to see where we can make potential changes to my therapy. Dr. Magaziner was supportive of all that I have done up to this point and acknowledged that my body has boosted its immune system throughout the ordeal. He also reiterated that cancer, in its many ways, can continue to spread as he offered continued support in whatever I may choose to do as I move forward. The supplements I was given as I left were: MonoPure (60), PectaSol-C, GCMAF, Quercetin, EGCg (60), and CurcuPlex-95.

* Memorial Sloan Kettering (Koch Center 530 E. 74th St. NY and Middletown NJ)

On April 12, 2022, Andrea and I made our way up to MSK for a 9 am appointment to meet with the Chief of Head and Neck Oncology, Dr. David Pfister. The ride up was a complete traffic nightmare, but we expected that. Once we got there, we realized what a high-end facility it truly is. We first met with Dr. Pfister's assistant who took all of our information and details that he needed to pass along to Dr. Pfister, this initial meeting lasted almost an hour. When Dr. Pfister came in, Andrea and I immediately appreciated his demeanor. He was knowledgeable and compassionate as he discussed my situation. He said that prior to putting a 'game plan' in place, he wanted to review the tissue sample from the first biopsy I had done last September. He also wanted to review Dr. Houston's notes, and said I needed to meet with other specialists on his team, including his Integrative team. He also wanted a biopsy of the cancerous bone as well. He said that after he has all of this information, we could then implement a plan which may or may not include chemotherapy and immunotherapy. After our meeting with Dr. Pfister I had blood work done and an EKG (the EKG showed my heart to be in excellent shape).

Andrea and I then left feeling oddly encouraged and inspired! Andrea made a point to say that we've both had the same feelings and reactions after every prior specialist appointment, which was that we never had a good feeling. This day was not the same. We feel confident that Dr. Pfister and his team can get me beyond this. He made a point to say that it is 'treatable' (not 'curable'). Andrea and I know that if this can treat and stop the spread of cancer, then the methods we've been doing for the past 8 months will remove cancer once and for all.

April 18, 2022,

I had a consultation this morning with Surgical Oncologist Dr. Benjamin Roman at MSK in Middletown. As with our meeting with Dr. Pfister, both Andrea and I felt very secure and confident with Dr. Roman. He sent a scope through my nose and into my throat to get a better view of the lymph nodes. He wants to be sure that what looks like a 'second cancer' on the right side of my throat is just a continuation of the original cancer. The scope showed that it is actually behind healthy tissue and did not want to take a biopsy of it because of that.  He set me up for a new CT-Scan and an MRI that will show the area better, and if a biopsy is in fact needed, he could potentially arrange it for the same day I'm having a bone biopsy done on my hip.

April 21, 2022

I had a morning 'Telemedicine' video chat with MSK nurses who gave me all the details of what to expect on my upcoming biopsy and mediport. In the afternoon I headed up to MSK in the city for an MRI and a CT scan both of which were done with 'contrast'.

April 26, 2022

Andrea and I headed back up to NYC for another appointment with Dr. Pfister and his staff. They explained a lot of my options (based on the results from the upcoming biopsy) including immunotherapy, and two specific clinical trials. And some specific chemotherapy treatments.

April 28, 2022

Andrea took me to MSK in Middletown at 7am to get prepped for my biopsy and mediport. This was actually an educational and dare I say 'enjoyable' experience. I say enjoyable because I had zero discomfort, and the anesthetics got me really high!. Dr. Shah took the biopsy from my hip and placed the mediport in my chest. Dr. Pfister called us that evening to see how I fared after the procedure, and had more to share about the clinical trials. Specifically one that focuses on the exact HPV virus I have which led to my cancer. Andrea and I are now leaning towards this opportunity.

May 3, 2022

(my throat has been very sore for almost a week now. Sometimes its difficult to drink, sometimes difficult to eat, sometimes difficult to speak, sometimes all three)

Andrea and I headed back up to NYC for another appointment with Dr. Pfister and his staff. Nurse Lisa and Dr. Pfister confirmed the details of the HPV clinical trial: TheraT Vector(s) in People with Human Papillomavirus 16-Positive (HPV 16+) Cancers. Dr. Pfister is the Lead Researcher on this trial. This trial includes two specific drugs (HB-201) (HB-202) along with an Immunotherapy ('Keytruda'). The thought is to have these two drugs (which are also HPV viruses) seek out my specific HPV 16+, and along with the immunotherapy, eradicate it. Andrea and I have chosen this approach to combat my cancer. We feel it represents a great opportunity that does not include chemotherapy. Dr. Pfister's staff took blood from my mediport (much easier) and I signed the consent forms. Just a few more tests and treatment can start within a week or two.

(my throat has been very sore for two weeks now. Sometimes its difficult to drink, sometimes difficult to eat, sometimes difficult to speak, sometimes all three)

This 13-hour day started with a two-and-a-half-hour ride into the city for my first appointment which was for a 9am EKG. That was followed by bloodwork, then my meeting with Nurse Lisa Cox and Dr. Pfister. They reviewed the treatment schedule and possible side effects with me and Andrea. Then at 1 o'clock I went to the 12th floor for my first treatment. The nurse 'Alex' was great and helped to further explain the details. I had my own private room with a bathroom, TV, and view of the East River. First, she manually administered the HB202 virus over a 10-minute period. After that, I had to wait for an hour so they could monitor me. I felt fine as I was waiting. Andrea, who was walking around the East Side, came back in to sit with me. After an hour had passed, they administered the immunotherapy (Keytruda) through an IV. That drip took about a half-hour, then there was another hour-long waiting period while they monitored me. When the monitoring period was over I was free to leave. I left feeling fine, and I was able to drive us home. We didn't arrive home until 7pm.

May 18, 2022 *REACTIONS*

I went to school the next day after treatments and initially didn't feel that bad. But towards the afternoon, I noticed backaches, like a 'gripping' around my back (I started to recall having that initially with the flu some years ago). By the time I got home, I had to get right on the couch. That's when I started the 'shakes'. When Ann got home she placed me right in bed as I felt full-blown flu symptoms by now. Around 8pm is when I started to get nauseous. I tried to get in touch with MSK but their triage department returned calls that were all dropped. I started throwing up around 10pm and it continued every hour all night long. Andrea tried to get electrolytes and fluids in me but it was difficult. I hated every second of it. I noticed black stuff mixed in with what I threw up. One of the worst nights of my life. Thank God I had Andrea with me.

May 19, 2022

The triage unit at MSK in Middletown got me an appointment at 9am where they gave me a hydration IV and anti-nausea meds which worked immediately. Andrea got me home and back in bed where I remained most of the day.

May 20, 2022

I had to head back up to the city for follow-up blood work, a urine sample, and saliva sample. The whole appointment took only 15 minutes. I wish I didn't have to go all the way up to the city for that.

May 21-22, 2022

I am noting that I am still experiencing side effects. Mostly fatigue and flu-like. And my throat is still sore.

May 23 - June 7, 2022

Throughout this time frame, the only side effect was my sore throat. And as that dissipated, my appetite was ravenous! I was literally eating non-stop.

June 7, 2022 *2nd DAY OF TREATMENTS*

Prior to the treatments, Dr. Pfister examined me and was very happy to see a change in the tonsil area of my throat! He noticed that the area seemed 'flat' (as opposed to bumpy). I then had my treatments which this time included the Clinical Trial drug HB201 along with the Immunotherapy. I headed back home after a long day.

June 8-27, 2022

Throughout this time the only side effect I was experiencing was a sore throat. In some instances, it was really painful and stopped me in my tracks. I would offset this by multiple oral rinses of warm water, baking soda, and salt, and occasionally the Lidacaine prescription rinse which always numbed my mouth. I also maintained a regimen of Tylenol and sometimes Aleev. Throughout this time I also increased my workouts in the gym up to 4 days per week (2 lifting and 2 core). On June 24 I had another CT Scan at MSK in Middletown. Dr. Pfister will have these results at my upcoming 3rd treatment next week.

June 28, 2022 *3rd DAY OF TREATMENTS*

Andrea and I headed up to MSK in NYC for my 3rd round of treatments. Prior to the treatments, Dr. Pfister gave us the GREAT NEWS that these treatments are working! My tumors are shrinking and my throat is healing. He was excited as he examined my throat and noticed what Andrea and I have seen for a week or so now, that my throat is 'pink', almost completely 'flat', and definitely looks 'healthy'. We were so excited by this news. Andrea sent texts to our families and close friends. I felt my Mom's presence with me once again, and had it confirmed by the sighting of yet another orb in a picture!. So, then we went to the clinical trial floor for my treatment. This time it was back to the HB202 drug that I started with on May 17. We got home at 5pm, and shortly after dinner, I began feeling the same flu-like symptoms that I had the first time, backaches and shaking. It got to the point where I had to get right in bed. Andrea covered me up and noticed that I had a low-grade fever of 100.5. She gave me Tylenol. I only got up once during the night to urinate (and it burned) but I did not get nauseous (thankfully). I woke up the next morning feeling OK with no fever and no real symptoms.

June 29 - July 18, 2022

This time-frame between treatments was my best to date. And by that I mean that I experienced the least amount of any side effects. Aside from back aches that I had on the first day (June 28), and one incident of a slightly sore throat, I was free of any real side effects. Oddly enough, what was bothering me was a toothache. It seems as though I've lost part of a filling on my bottom right molar. I am having this addressed in a few weeks. And continuing with the 'odd' trend, periodically I experience a fairly painful hip pain on my left side. It shows up just before I wake up, and dissipates as soon as I get up and start to walk around. I get this maybe 2-4 times a week. Throughout this time frame I maintained my workouts in the gym, and I restarted my podcast and singing performances again. This was HUGE for me! I also had a series of CT scans with contrast during this time.

July 19, 2022 *4th DAY OF TREATMENTS*

I made my way back up to MSK in NYC for my 4th round of treatments. I first had lab work done (specific blood tests) and had my vitals checked. After that I had my meetings with Clinical Specialist Lisa Cox who reviewed how I fared over the last three weeks, followed by Dr. Pfister. Dr. Pfister examined me and reiterated that the tumor on the left side of my throat is all but gone, and the right side, although it is still there seems smaller. He was very pleased to see that I had no pain since the last treatment, as he also attests this to the treatments working. When Dr. Pfister was reviewing the latest CT scan results with me, he pointed out one specific report that shows a combined percentage of my throat and bone cancer. After my first scans, this percentage was at 36%. After my most recent scans, that percentage dropped to 20% (this is a drop of 42%!) Dr. Pfister, Lisa and I were all very excited by this positive news!

I then headed a few floors down to the Clinical Trial floor for my treatments. This time it was back to the HB201 drug that I had on my 2nd treatment. That was followed as usual by my dosage of immunotherapy.

I then made my way out of the city, and headed back home. I relaxed at night with Andrea and did not experience any side effects. With that said, I wanted to stay ahead of things, so I did take two Tylenol pills before I went to bed.

July 20 - August 8, 2022

Again, the timeframe between treatments was, for all intents and purposes, 'side-effect free'. The first few days, I took Tylenol just to keep ahead of any specific pain. I had no specific throat pain or soreness to speak of. What I continue to notice is how I need to have water whenever I'm eating, especially any foods with substance, or thickness. I attest this to the growths I have in my throat still inhibiting my swallowing to some degree. I still experience that weird left hip pain on certain mornings, but it still dissipates by the time I get out of bed and head into the bathroom. I want to acknowledge that I did something really stupid during this timeframe. When my brother Frankie and his wife Claudia were visiting us for a week, I 'over-indulged' on their first night in town. Being totally honest, I got fucking hammered! I stupidly had a few tequilas, a few beers, then I took a hit of some pot. MAJOR MISTAKE! I puked all night, and even once in the morning. I was grateful to have 'Coach Frankie' with me, as he was with helping me with each and every hurl. He even asked me right away if I had my anti-nausea medicine with me, and I said no, which was another choke! It wasn't until the next morning, and after I puked again did I look in my overnight bag, and saw that I did have those meds with me!! Thankfully, for my team at MSK, they set me up with a hydration IV that I was able to get in Middletown. On August 3rd, I had another round of CT Scans with Contrast. But aside from my own screwup, I felt pretty good during this time.

August 9, 2022 *5th DAY OF TREATMENTS*

Andrea and I headed up to MSK in NYC for my 5th round of treatments. Of all days to have this on, it is Andrea's (and my Dad's) birthday! I started the day with Lab work, where they took about a dozen vials of blood. I also had another EKG. Then Andrea and I visited with Dr. Pfister for my consultation. During my physical exam, and especially in my throat, Dr. Pfister was VERY EXCITED! His exact words were: "WOW! this is REALLY good news!" His excitement was due to the continued healing of my throat. Needless to say, Andrea and I were just as happy. Dr. Pfister also went on to say that the results from the CT Scan I had last week again showed that the cancer levels continue to drop. Again, we were totally stoked at hearing this positive news! We then headed down to the Clinical Trial floor where I was hooked up with extra hydration, along with the trial drug HB202 which was followed by a DOUBLE DOSE of immunotherapy. I received a double dose, because this was the first session in my now 'every 6 weeks' program (as opposed to every 3 weeks). I felt good as we made our way back home. We stopped for a nice dinner to celebrate Andrea's birthday, and my good news. When we got home, we watched a little TV, and then I started feeling my double dose! It started with bodyaches, and then I started shivering. Andrea gave me some Tylenol and got me right in bed. She actually laid on top of me to give me extra body warmth! Which actually helped! I woke up in the middle of the night soaking wet! So, I knew my fever had broke. When I woke up in the morning I felt fine.

August 10 - September 19, 2022

On Monday August 15, I had a follow-up visit with Dr. Roman at MSK in Middletown, who I haven't seen since April 16. After his initial examination, he confirmed that the treatments have been working. He also acknowledged that my throat is healing. He then put a scope up my nose and down into my throat to closely exam my entire throat, upon which he sees everything looking really well. When he specifically examined the palette area of my throat he was still able to feel the tumor. He also spent time examing the lymph node on the right side of my neck, which has shrunk in size but still a concern.

Dr. Roman wanted to address our potential options if my future treatments do not eradicate the cancer, and shrink the tumors completely. He said that there could be a possible surgery to remove the right size lymph node, which does have potential side-effects. He also addressed the possibility of chemo and radiation at some point if needed. I don't want to say that this news was 'startling'? but it clearly brought me back down to Earth (even though I am making great strides).

Later that afternoon, I also had a follow-up telemedicine appointment with MSK Integrative Specialist Dr. Eugenie Spiguel. I love these chats as Eugenie has proven to be a great resource for me. We discussed what actions I could take in this now 6-week gap between treatments. And aside from a few homeopathic related treatments, there's not a lot I can add.

**UPDATE March 17, 2023: For current information, I have been posting via my blog which includes my 7-week treatment program consisting of chemotherapy and radiation which ran from January 9, 2023, through March 1, 2023, and my healing phase that I am currently in.
